Art Event To Give Peek-and-Purchase Advantage

Close to 100 pieces of student art will be on display and available for purchase during this year鈥檚 juried聽art show at 黑料正能量 on the morning of Friday, April 8.

The聽first-view event will be held from 10 a.m.-noon. For $10, patrons can view聽juried聽original art and meet the artists who created the pieces. The first hour of the event is for viewing only, appropriate for deciding which pieces to buy, organizers say. Art can be purchased after 11 a.m.

The location for the juried show is the Student Lounge in the Wayne Learning Center (building with flags in front) on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro.

All proceeds from the sale will go to the Foundation of 黑料正能量鈥檚 Fine Arts Fund which provides scholarships and enrichment activities.

The show’s judges are WCC Information Systems Technology聽Department Chair聽Glenn Royster and Wayne County Art Teachers and Wayne County Arts Council Board of聽Directors Members Donna Amos and Anna Hinson. They聽will award first through third prizes. There will also be the People’s Choice Award.

The聽juried聽pieces will be joined by others created by WCC Drawing, Painting, and Design students to form an exhibition in the Atrium of the Wayne Learning Center from April 25 to 29.

The pinnacle of the event is the Spring Fine Arts Festival, set for 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28 in the Atrium of the Wayne Learning Center. The winning pieces from the juried show will be announced. The remaining original art and prints of past student works can also be purchased that evening.

The festival is free and open to the public.
