In addition to the general certificate, Capko also received Airframe and Powerplant Certificates of Completion during the presentation, allowing her to take the FAA鈥檚 written exams for those ratings as well.

鈥淚t feels pretty good,鈥 Capko said about finally earning all three certificates. 鈥淚t鈥檚 been a long time waiting and a lot of late nights.鈥

WCC鈥檚 Aviation Systems Technology program was a perfect fit for Capko, who wanted to enroll in a local program and eventually work as an aircraft mechanic. 鈥淏efore this, I was a car mechanic. I wanted to do something bigger,鈥 she said about working on airplanes.

Jumangit also said that it feels great to earn the general certificate. 鈥淚t鈥檚 been a lot of hard work for me,鈥 he said. 鈥淚鈥檝e been driving an hour and 30 minutes just to get to class every day.鈥

The drive is worth it for Jumangit, who wanted to attend WCC鈥檚 program because of the smaller class sizes. 鈥淚 don鈥檛 have a mechanical background, so I鈥檓 just starting out fresh with everything,鈥 he said.

WCC鈥檚 Aviation Systems Technology program offers an Aviation Systems Technology Degree, Aviation Systems Technology Airframe Diploma, and Aviation Systems Technology Powerplant Diploma.

For students interested in getting a four-year degree, WCC鈥檚 associate in applied science degree in Aviation Systems Technology qualifies for East Carolina University鈥檚 Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology Transfer Program.
