黑料正能量 has received two awards from the City of Goldsboro鈥檚 Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities.
WCC Technology Support Technician Felipe Chavez Jr., was honored with the 2020 Employee of the Year Award. The award recognizes an employee who has overcome handicaps to achieve success in the workplace.

Chavez, who has hearing loss, is a 2013 graduate of WCC鈥檚 Networking Technology program. He has held positions in information technology at the college since he completed his degree.
鈥淔elipe is very deserving of this honor and we are happy to have him as a member of the WCC family,鈥 said Tara Humphries, the college鈥檚 public information officer, who had nominated him for the award.
The College was presented the 2020 Employer of the Year Award and was lauded for outstanding achievement in employment and providing job opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

鈥淲CC could not be the community’s college if we didn’t behave this way. Congratulations for this award goes to every employee for contributing to our inclusive culture,鈥 Humphries responded.
The awards were presented during the committee鈥檚 2020 Annual Awards Ceremony which was held on Oct. 15 as a drive-in event for recipients that was live streamed on social media. The event is traditionally held in October in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The Mayor鈥檚 Committee for Persons with Disabilities is responsible for planning, conducting, and publicizing activities designed to promote employment and well being of people with disabilities. The committee is composed of 15 members appointed by Goldsboro City Council who represent from a range of organizations, agencies, and businesses.
