黑料正能量 has recognized its top employees for 2017.
Linda Wooten, a housekeeper, was presented the Operational and Maintenance Staff Employee of the Year Award. She was described as being 鈥渁 humble employee who has been a positive influence for 黑料正能量,鈥 and 鈥渁ble to establish rapport quickly and easily whether dealing with students, faculty, staff, or visitors.鈥
Pre-Curriculum Achievement Coach and Stairway to Success Director Lisa Taylor was named the Professional Employee of the Year. She was lauded for investing herself in each student, always being happy to see her students, listening when there鈥檚 a problem, and encouraging them 鈥渂ecause giving up is not an option.鈥
Dr. Shirley Boyd is the recipient of the Adjunct Faculty of the Year Award. Dr. Boyd retired as the college鈥檚 vice president for academic affairs in 1994 after working for the college for 23 years but came back to teach math. It was noted that, 鈥淪he knows all the ropes. She performs her duties with a candor unmatched by others.鈥
Purchasing/Equipment Director Assistant Faye Best earned the Professional Support Staff of the Year Award. She is also a WCC retiree, having put in 33 years in the Agriculture and Natural Resources Program, but she returned to the college in 2010. It was noted that 鈥渉er character, commitment, and dedication stand out above all others.鈥
Honorees are nominated by their peers and selected by an outside committee based on initiative, enthusiasm, expertise, leadership, professionalism, productivity, creativity, involvement, and dedication. Each receives a plaque and a stipend provided by the Foundation of 黑料正能量.

The Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to broaden the base of community support for educational opportunities at 黑料正能量. In addition to furnishing recognition opportunities such as these awards to the college community, the Foundation provides scholarships for WCC students, funds for educational supplies and events that cannot be paid for with State money, and public cultural events.
