Delta Airlines Partnering with 黑料正能量

November 28, 2017

黑料正能量 will be partnering with Delta Air Lines to train Aircraft Maintenance Technicians.

The college鈥檚 Aviation Systems Technology program is one of 42 Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) schools across the United States selected by Delta to be a 鈥減referred training institution鈥 for airframe and power plant mechanics.

It was evaluated by Delta TechOps personnel and found to 鈥渕eet FAA [Federal Aviation Administration] standards as well as Delta鈥檚 high principles that exceed industry standards,鈥 according to Joe McDermott, managing director of cabin maintenance, training, safety, and support services for Delta.

AMTs keep aircraft in safe flying condition by servicing, repairing and overhauling aircraft and aircraft components while following detailed federal regulations set by the FAA.

The airline industry is anticipating AMTs to be in high demand in the next few years.

A recent report by international management consulting firm Oliver Wyman stated that the demand for AMTs is 鈥渇orecast to outstrip supply by 9 percent鈥 by 2027, due in part to a record number of technicians expected to retire. In fact, according to the 2017 Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul Survey titled 鈥淲hen Growth Outpaces Capacity,鈥 the pinch is already being felt.

Mark Peeples, chair of WCC鈥檚 Aviation Systems Technology department, says that each of the 150 aviation maintenance programs in the nation will have to produce more than 226 graduates each year over the next 20 years to meet the need.

That means 鈥渢he jobs are everywhere,鈥 Peeples said. 鈥淢y phone rings a half dozen times a week 鈥 鈥榙o you have any people who want to go to work.鈥欌

鈥淭his partnership will benefit the school鈥檚 students by gaining Delta as a resource for continuous improvement of the AMT program along with Delta鈥檚 assistance with marketing the program to prospective students,鈥 said McDermott. 鈥淎dditionally, partnering with Delta will broaden access to the benefits of AMT careers available within the global aviation industry.鈥

鈥淚鈥檓 terribly excited,鈥 Peeples. He gives Aviation Instructor Mike Crumpler and their students credit for helping Delta see the quality of the program during interviews and site visits.

鈥淲e know we have a good program here,鈥 Peeples said, noting that students have come from as far as New Jersey to participate in it and that 100 percent of his graduates pass their FAA exams. 鈥淲e鈥檙e happy that Delta is willing to start growing for their program here.鈥

黑料正能量 offers an associate in applied science degree in Aviation Systems Technology and diplomas in Airframe and Power Plant. The program has been FAA Part 147-approved since 1969.
