Even though the COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot about their academic journey, 黑料正能量鈥檚 students have continued to make art and music.
This year鈥檚 Winter Fine Arts Festival will feature artwork from Spring 2020, which under normal conditions would have been the focus of a show last May, and Fall 2020 classes plus videos of the college鈥檚 first-ever virtual choir performances.
The public is invited to view the art and recorded performances 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday-Thursday, Nov. 30-Dec. 3, and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4. The displays will be set up in the Atrium of the Wayne Learning Center on the college鈥檚 campus in Goldsboro.

鈥淒espite incredible odds, my students were able to rise to the challenges of creating beautiful work. We all felt that even in the chaos, art will still thrive,鈥 said WCC Art Instructor Angie Waller. 鈥淚 feel that my students have been able to support this statement and so much more. I am very proud of them.鈥
Recorded music performances by WCC students, faculty, community members, and Wayne County Public Schools students will be shown on monitors periodically on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 3 and 4.
In addition to solo performances, there will be a virtual choir performance of Pinkzebra鈥檚 鈥淔ly Away Home鈥 featuring students in the college鈥 fall music appreciation class and faculty and a virtual performance by music appreciation students in collaboration with public schools students, WCC faculty, and community members of 鈥淪tand by Me鈥 by Ben E. King, Jerry Leiber, and Mike Stoller.
Randi Chalfant, the college鈥檚 music instructor, said that the virtual choir performance songs were chosen for their meaning during this time when many are separated by necessity and looking forward to a time when they can be together again.
All visitors to the WCC campus must go through the college鈥檚 COVID-19 screening process, wear face coverings, and practice social distancing.
