黑料正能量鈥檚 Automotive Systems Technology students get to experience hands-on training with a C8 Corvette donated by General Motors (GM).
The Corvette donation to the College came through GM鈥檚 corporate training program that assists institutions within the General Motors Automotive Service Education Program (GM-ASEP) training network.
GM-ASEP is an alliance between GM, the company鈥檚 dealers, and over 50 carefully selected community colleges including WCC. The program鈥檚 curriculum incorporates advanced automotive technical training with a strong academic foundation and work-based learning at GM dealerships, preparing students to earn an associate鈥檚 degree and become GM certified service technicians.
鈥淪ince the early 1980s, GM has had a continued commitment to support WCC through millions of dollars鈥� worth of tools, equipment, and vehicles, like this C8 Corvette,鈥� said WCC GM-ASEP Program Coordinator and Automotive Instructor David Byrd.
Byrd said the C8 Corvette will show GM-ASEP students the technologies found in most of the GM vehicles they will service on the job.
The C8 Corvette adds to the 32 other training aid vehicles at WCC, giving students the chance to learn cutting-edge technologies.
鈥淟ike spotting a Corvette on the road, it is rare for a postsecondary automotive program to have a Corvette to train on,鈥� said Byrd. 鈥淲e are extremely fortunate here at WCC.鈥�
