The second annual Vocal Fest will be held at 黑料正能量 for young singers to learn from the College鈥檚 music faculty.
Students will spend the day rehearsing on Wednesday, Oct. 16, and will conclude with a mass choir performance at 4 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium, located in the Wayne Learning Center (the main building on campus with the flag poles in front).
A total of 157 high school students from 12 schools across the state will join WCC choir students for the final performance. The high school choir directors and the College鈥檚 choir will also perform a musical selection together during the final concert.
鈥淚 am so excited for the second annual WCC Vocal Fest,鈥� said WCC Music Instructor Jonathan Saeger. 鈥淲e learned a lot of lessons last year that have allowed us to improve the experience for everyone. This year, we are offering even more opportunities for the directors and students.鈥�
Guest clinician Rue Lee-Holmes will offer a professional development workshop for the high school choir directors during the festival. Lee-Holmes will also be leading students and their teachers in body percussion exercises throughout the day.
In conjunction with Vocal Fest, performance videos of student solos or small ensembles that have been submitted will be evaluated by WCC鈥檚 music faculty. Three winners will get the chance to showcase their talents in a special performance at the concert and will receive a monetary award.
鈥淟ast year, we had some pretty special performances, and I suspect we will have even more this year,鈥� Saeger said.
