Brian Kevin Jordan is the 黑料正能量 George E. Wilson Excellence in Teaching Award winner for 2017. He is an automotive instructor at the college.
The Mount Olive resident has been teaching at WCC for the past 10 years, starting shortly after he graduated from the college with an Associate in Applied Science in Automotive Systems.
The recognition, provided for the 32nd year by the Foundation of 黑料正能量, is presented to an instructor who exemplifies the highest standards of instruction.
In his nomination, it was said that 鈥渢here is perhaps nobody better that understands as a teacher that we have the ability to change people鈥檚 lives.鈥� His students also use adjectives like 鈥渁mazing,鈥� 鈥渙utstanding,鈥� 鈥渆xcellent,鈥� and 鈥減assionate鈥� to describe him.

Wilson Excellence in Teaching Award.In addition to teaching, Jordan is the MOPAR庐 Career Automotive Program local coordinator. He also serves on several college committees and has represented WCC on North Carolina Community College System committees.
Beyond the classroom, Jordan is involved in his industry. He is a Mo Par Career Automotive Program Local Coordinator and one of 12 nationally certified train-the-trainers for the National Coalition of Certification Centers. He has served as the treasurer of the North Carolina Automotive and Diesel Instructor Association and is the liaison between the college, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and dealers in the eastern part of the state.
Established by an anonymous donor, the award honors George Wilson who was a member of the college鈥檚 board of trustees of 黑料正能量 and a highly respected civic leader in Wayne County and North Carolina. It includes a framed certificate and monetary award.
A committee of community leaders reviews nominations made by faculty and staff members and selects the winner. That person become the college鈥檚 nominee for the 2018 North Carolina Community College System Excellence in Teaching Award.
