Junior Bison Summer Camps Offered at WCC

Middle and high school students are invited to explore hobbies and future careers through 黑料正能量鈥檚 Junior Bison Summer Camps.

鈥淥ur Junior Bison can expect to have a hands-on opportunity to explore careers as well as develop leadership skills through one or more of our summer camps,鈥 said WCC Vice President of Workforce Continuing Education Services and Community Engagement Renita Dawson. 鈥淧articipating in these camps gives youth a chance to explore potential interests in a fun way during the summer.鈥

This year鈥檚 camps are:

Allied Health Career Exploration 鈥 June 16鈥19: 9 a.m.鈥12 p.m. for rising sixth鈥揺ighth graders and 1鈥4 p.m. for rising ninth鈥12th graders. This camp will introduce campers to various career fields in allied health, and the week will end with basic first aid & CPR training. Cost: $60.

Business Career Exploration 鈥 June 23鈥26: 9 a.m.鈥12 p.m. for rising sixth鈥揺ighth graders and 1鈥4 p.m. for rising ninth鈥12th graders. Campers will learn how money works and what it takes to work in business. They will also get hands-on experience with a chance to create their own business and design a logo. Cost: $60.

Let鈥檚 Go LEGO庐 Leadership 鈥 June 16鈥19: 9 a.m.鈥12 p.m. for rising sixth鈥揺ighth graders. Campers will learn leadership skills through creative LEGO庐 activities. They will get experience working in teams and leading business projects using LEGO庐 bricks. The campers will learn what leadership style they have and how it works in teams. Cost: $60.

Truck Driver Career Exploration 鈥 July 7鈥10: 9 a.m.鈥12 p.m. for rising ninth鈥12th graders. This interactive camp will introduce the truck driver training industry. The campers will learn the steps of obtaining the credentials to become a truck driver and explore their day-to-day responsibilities. Cost: $60.

Beekeepers Camp 鈥 June 23鈥26: 9 a.m.鈥12 p.m. for rising sixth鈥揺ighth graders and 1鈥4 p.m. for rising ninth鈥12th graders. This camp investigates the importance of pollinating insects in the environment. Participants will learn about honey bees and beekeeping through lectures and hands-on activities. Cost: $60.

Public Safety Academy 鈥 July 7鈥10: 1鈥4 p.m. for rising eighth鈥12th graders. This camp will introduce the basics of law enforcement, emergency medical service, and fire services careers by giving campers hands-on experience in these areas. Cost: $60.

Video Game Academy 鈥 June 16鈥19: 9 a.m.鈥12 p.m. for rising ninth鈥12th graders and 1鈥4 p.m. for rising sixth鈥揺ighth graders. This camp introduces various aspects of simulation and game development. Campers will engage in the process of 3D modeling, creating video games, and programming, gaining hands-on experience designing and producing game artifacts to share with family and friends. Cost: $80.
