Logan Matthews has been recognized for her leadership at 黑料正能量 and beyond.
Matthews is the recipient of the 2020 WCC Governor Robert W. Scott Student Leadership Award.聽The honor also made her the college鈥檚 nominee for the North Carolina Community College System鈥檚 annual award of the same name.
Matthews was active at Charles B. Aycock High School and continues to participate in her church.
At WCC, she served as a Student Ambassador and Student Government Association secretary, and this year, was the Student Government Association president. An accomplishment of her term as president was the installation of a 鈥渂lessing box鈥� on campus.
鈥淚 see my leadership as an opportunity to serve others. I do not measure success through output, but rather through growth and development,鈥� Matthews said. 鈥淚 am a student leader who strives to serve and give the students an experience they will never forget.鈥�
Matthews participated in the NC Community College System鈥檚 Student Leadership Development Program this year and chose to provide two financial literacy presentations to student groups as her required project for the program.
An associate in science major, Matthews maintained a high grade point average which resulted in her being named to the college鈥檚 President鈥檚 List and being inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
