黑料正能量 has recognized seven students for completing its Honors Program.
The completers and their majors are
Alexandra Berkhof, Associate in Arts (AA);
Madolyn Grace Casey, AA and Associate in Science (AS);
Sheris Cox, AA;
Daphka Joseph, AS;
Gabriel Luna-Cervantes, AS;
Madison A. Tallarida, AA; and
Jose Alfonzo Torres, AS.
All except Berkhof are spring 2020 graduates.
The program鈥檚 mission is to prepare college transfer students to succeed at four-year institutions and beyond and to enhance their academic, leadership, and service experiences.
鈥淭he Honors Program challenges students to think critically, step out of their comfort zone, and be creative,鈥� said WCC Program Coordinator Lynn Swafford. 鈥淗onors courses often allow students to design and implement their own research or service projects. These classes and projects prepare students to succeed and lead in college, their careers, and life.鈥�
To participate in WCC鈥檚 Honors Program, students must be an associate in arts, science or engineering major; maintain a 3.2 grade point average; and earn no lower than a B in four honors-level courses, including 鈥淟eadership Development.鈥�
Students who finish the program receive a medallion to wear at graduation, a certificate of completion, notation of honors credit on their transcripts, and an Honors Program seal on their diploma.
