The North Carolina Community College Master Instructor (NC3MI) Certification Program has selected WCC Business Administration Instructor Bobbi Stevens to join its inaugural cohort.

The NC3MI initiative intends to enhance participants鈥 teaching practices and contribute to the educational experience within the NC Community College System.
Stevens applied to the year-long program and was selected based on her dedication to education and specialty within her area of discipline. She joins 26 other candidates from community colleges across the state.
鈥淎pplying and getting accepted into this program shows Bobbi鈥檚 desire to be the best instructor possible and her commitment to student success,鈥 said WCC Dean of Business and Computer Technologies Tracy Schmeltzer. 鈥淲e are excited for her to share the strategies she learns.鈥
Joining the first cohort allows Stevens to help shape NC3MI for future participants. 鈥淚t鈥檚 exciting to contribute to the development of a new program and what the next cohorts are going to experience,鈥 she said. 鈥淭here is a foundation there, but we get to be a part of building the program.鈥
Stevens hopes to learn different teaching techniques and new tools and resources to share with her colleagues at WCC. 鈥淲e teach a wide range of age groups and learning abilities, so I think this program is going to help give us tools to become more adaptable as instructors, showing us different ways to communicate or new things we can bring into the classroom,鈥 she said.
She is also looking forward to networking and learning from her peers. 鈥淎t WCC, we try to be innovative and do things differently in the classroom, not just constantly lecture,鈥 Stevens said. 鈥淚 hope to find new ways to make learning a little more exciting and interesting for the students.鈥
