A 黑料正能量 student group is holding a walk to raise awareness of and provide needed items for homeless individuals.
The event, 鈥淎 Walk in Someone Else鈥檚 Shoes,鈥 is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16 at Stoney Creek Park, 2200 E. Ash St., Goldsboro. The cost to participate in the one-mile walk is a donation of new or gently used socks, shoes, clothes, or money.
According to the group, 9,280 people in North Carolina are experiencing homelessness, and many unhoused persons live in Wayne County.
鈥淭heir number one need is socks,鈥 said group spokesperson Mills Hancock. 鈥淲e created this race to bring awareness to this fact and bring these people what they most need.鈥
The team is comprised of students in the college鈥檚 Honors Leadership Development class. One requirement of the course is to carry out projects that will improve their community.
