黑料正能量 announced today that it is cancelling events through April 10 due to the potential spread of COVID-19.
The restriction applies to 鈥渁ll events, meetings, conferences, or other forms of gathering that bring members of the public, both those who would be conducting activities and those who would be participating, onto campus,鈥 said WCC Public Information Officer Tara Humphries.
Among the affected events will be
the Nurse Aide and Phlebotomy Information Sessions scheduled for March 16 and 17,
Wayne County Reads lecture on March 24,
Operation Medicine Drop session on March 26,
Risk Management and Insurance Information Session on March 31,
Science Festival on April 4,
Teddy Bear Picnic on April 8, and
Foundation of WCC Arts and Humanities lectures.
Currently, other than this and restriction of college-sanctioned travel outside the county, the college is maintaining normal operations.

鈥淓arly on, the college began sharing steps to avoid contracting and spreading the disease with its students and employees, stepped up its facilities sanitation efforts, and set up a COVID-19 page on our website that we update constantly, and we have been communicating directly with our college family to keep them apprised of the campus鈥 status and news about the coronavirus,鈥 Humphries reported.
The college has a Pandemic Response Team that is dealing with preparation and response decisions.
鈥淲e are continuing to monitor guidance provided by the CDC, DHHS, and local authorities and we are in constant contact with our various partners in this community,鈥 Humphries said. 鈥淎s the situation changes, we are prepared to respond.鈥
鈥淎ll decisions that are being made have the purpose of keeping our students, colleagues, and community as healthy and safe as possible while preserving our goal of providing a quality education,鈥 Humphries said.
