黑料正能量 Computer-Integrated Machining Instructors Bailee Gilbert and David Meek recently completed Haas operator certification training, making WCC a Haas certification center.
Haas Automation is the largest machine tool builder in the nation and one of the largest CNC machine builders in the world.
The Haas CNC Certification Program allows individuals to stand out in the manufacturing industry by becoming Haas-certified machine operators. The program includes videos and online quizzes covering mill/lathe operation and safety, as well as a hands-on final exam taken at a Haas Factory Outlet (HFO) or certification center.
After completing their own training, WCC鈥檚 machining instructors are now authorized to administer the hands-on portion of the certification test to anyone who has successfully completed the online training, including students, other faculty members, and the public.
鈥淭he certification is administered primarily via the HFO network,鈥� Gilbert explained. 鈥淛ohnston Community College is on the list of certification centers, so they generously invited us to go and take the final exam at their facility.鈥�
鈥淚nstructors Dwight Barnes and Dexter Edwards took the time out of their schedule to not only administer the hands-on portion of the test to us but also supply instructional content and testing materials to help us deliver the certification to future applicants,鈥� she said.
WCC鈥檚 Computer-Integrated Machining program has a longstanding partnership with Haas. The Gene Haas Foundation regularly donates toward the program to provide students with scholarships and support manufacturing education.
