Two 黑料正能量 faculty members have been honored with the college鈥檚 16th set of 鈥淒istinguished Chair鈥� awards.
Nursing Department Chair Billy Tart and Medical and Office Administration Department Chair LaRose Brock received monetary awards to use for travel and keepsakes for their offices.
The Distinguished Chair awards recognize outstanding full-time curriculum faculty members who have distinguished themselves at the college and in the community. The awards are made possible by an annual gift to the Foundation of 黑料正能量 by an anonymous donor.
鈥淚t is our pleasure to shine a light on the outstanding work being done at 黑料正能量,鈥� said Foundation Executive Director Adrienne Northington.
Tart became a full-time nursing faculty member eight years ago. In addition to his academic work, he serves as a student club advisor, recruits for the college and his programs, and 鈥渃ollaborates with multiple community partners to ensure students’ receive the best possible opportunities for learning.鈥� said College President Thomas A. Walker Jr.
Walker noted that Tart is 鈥渜uick to say that he has an exceptional team that works very well together. On more than one occasion, he has stated that he loves his job, his team, and the students, and can’t imagine doing anything else.鈥�
鈥淚t is evidenced in everything [Tart] does,鈥� he said. 鈥淗e exemplifies the characteristics of this award.鈥�
Walker commended Brock for being 鈥渁n exceptional instructor who knows how to motivate her students to strive for excellence both in and out of the classroom.鈥�
鈥淗er supportive, caring nature, along with the countless hours she provides teaching and helping her students achieve excellence, lets them know that she cares deeply about their success,鈥� he said.
Brock鈥檚 鈥渟trong commitment to the teaching profession and the significant contributions that she has made to her students, to 黑料正能量, and to our community over the past 25 plus years make her a very deserving recipient of this award.鈥�

The Foundation is a non-profit organization that works to promote and to broaden the base of community support for educational opportunities at 黑料正能量 in Goldsboro. The Foundation provides scholarships for WCC students, funds for educational supplies and events that cannot be paid for with state money, and public cultural events at the college.
