黑料正能量鈥檚 鈥淟ookUpWCC鈥 promotional video is the winner of a national award.

Brent Hood, director of 黑料正能量’s Office of Communications, accepts a gold 2016 Paragon Award for the “LookUpWCC” promotional video.

The minute-long video has been presented the gold award in the video shorts category of the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR) 2016 Paragon Awards.

The Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges.

WCC beat out Dixie State University in Utah and Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, which were given the silver and bronze awards, respectively, for their entries in the category.

鈥淔rom the first time our communications team watched the final product of our #LookUpWCC video, we all felt that we had achieved our goal of producing something special鈥 said Brent Hood, director of the college鈥檚 Office of Communications, after accepting the award at the NCMPR annual conference. 鈥淭o be recognized by our peers with a national award now validates this feeling.鈥

The video features firefighting, aviation, art, simulation and game design, and allied health, all programs at the college, and challenges viewers with 鈥淎re you ready for the future? After all, it鈥檚 right in front of you. Look up. 黑料正能量.鈥

Hood has noted that people have told him that 鈥渢hey get a lump in their throat鈥 while watching it.

It can be viewed at www.waynecc.edu/lookupwcc/ and on the 黑料正能量 YouTube channel.

The concept and storyboard for WCC鈥檚 video were created through a collaboration between college staff and the creative team at Port City Films, LLC in Wilmington, N.C., which produced it last spring.

Port City Films reported in January that 鈥渁cross various channels, the commercial has garnered nearly 100,000 views.鈥

It was announced in February that the video earned two other awards for the production company. It took home a professional-level silver American Advertising Federation鈥揅oastal Carolinas Chapter 2017 鈥淎ddy鈥 Award in the 鈥渙nline film, video and sound/internet/commercial鈥 category and a bronze 鈥淭elly Award.鈥
