Inclement Weather Closings or Delays

When inclement weather threatens, the President of the college or his/her designee will make any聽necessary decisions to cancel classes, delay classes, or close the college and all its operations.聽Decisions regarding closings and delays will be made on a day-to-day basis, taking into聽consideration local conditions as well as weather forecasts.
If the main campus is closed, all off-campus sites are聽closed with the possible exception of SJAFB and the WCC Child Care Center. Status for SJAFB聽classes will be determined in conjunction with the Base Education Office.
The decision will be announced using the system* (accessed through Okta),聽college聽e-mail, college website and social media pages,聽area radio and television聽stations. As a last resort, people can call the college’s main phone number (919-735-5151) for a recorded announcement.聽The聽absence of an announcement means that the聽college is operating on a normal schedule.
Every attempt will be made to post the announcement by聽6:00 a.m. on the day of the closing or delay.
Often, decisions about evening classes聽are made independently.聽In cases every attempt is made to make the聽announcement by 3:30 p.m.
If classes are delayed, the announcement will state the time the college will open. Faculty and聽staff should report at least 30 minutes prior to that time.
If classes are cancelled, announcements will, if possible, also include notification about聽which college employees are expected to report to work.聽(If travel conditions prevent the employee from reporting to work, the employee should exercise聽appropriate judgment, notify the supervisor and take annual leave.)
In times of inclement weather, radio and television stations will normally make announcements聽only about delays or cancellations.
Please do not call the media. Instead, listen to announcements on any of the following stations:
